2021 was supposed to be that year for Jaguars. Four years removed from an AFC Championship appearance featuring Head Coach Doug Marrone, BOY QB Blake Bortles, now Super Bowl champion Leonard Fournette and a star-studded defense, things have been quite rocky for Duvall County,
Since that loss against the Patriots, the Jaguars have gone 14-47. But this year was supposed to be different. They landed the first overall pick, and the covenant Clemson prodigy, Trevor Lawrence, and hired 3x National Champion coach, Urban Meyer. What could go wrong?
Well, Trevor Lawrence is not having that rookie of the year season everyone anticipated. He owns a 68.9 QBR rating with 2,735 yards, 9 TD’s, and 14 interceptions. The problems ran deeper than the quarterback. Urban Meyer seemed to be the problem, creating a toxic culture, an environment full of controversy and embarrassment, and now after 11 months and a 2-11 record, the Urban Meyer era is officially dead in Jacksonville. This came as no surprise, but what went wrong? Here is the full, tumultuous timeline of the Urban Meyer era in Jacksonville.
