A wild turn of events. Karl-Anthony Towns is a New York Knick. The Nova Knicks lose DiVincenzo, and a Julius Randle appreciation post.

I am at a loss of words. A Friday night shakeup that has my mind in pretzel.  A post-Woj era Shams bomb that has shook me to the core. As you can read from the title, a whirlwind of emotions are occuring.

Karl Anthony Towns, a dominant 4x All-Star center, is making his way back home to the New York Knicks. The return however, is where I question. All I can say is... wow. KnicksMuse said it best. Isaiah Hartenstein leaving changed the course of this franchise

Let's state the obvious.

  • The Knicks have eyed and valued Karl Anthony Towns for years.

  • With the departure of Hartenstein and the absence of Mitchell, a center was needed.

  • Julius Randle was someone whose name has circled the market, despite all that he has done, but it is certain that this team runs through Jalen Brunson. There was questions about his health too.

  • The Nova Knicks core has been broken up, which is surprising especially after the season.

  • At the end of the day, there is only one ball, and a lot of players in the rotation.

To be completely honest, I like the move, but I don't love the move. Maybe it's because it's a blockbuster that came out of nowhere. I think KAT is a fantastic addition, don't get me wrong, but I was in love with the makeup of this team. Is this going to fuck up the chemistry? Was this discussed with Brunson? What is going on?

I think I am most upset about Julius Randle. I had such high hopes and hefty expectations, and truthfully, he did not get what he deserved. He came to this Knicks squad when New York was in the dumpster, and he embraced it. This became his home, and he became a star. 3x All-Star, 2x All-NBA, he took a lot of shit from fans, and he took everything with grace. We wouldn't be the team we are today without him and his sacrifices, and he deserved to see this team make it to the finals.

On top of that, the Nova Knicks core was a fun story to follow, but Donte was a rising star on this team too. He was a three point assasin, and provided great value to this squad.

I am just confused. You couldn't get it done with multiple first rounders and Mitchell Robinson (no offense). I support the move, I think I am just shocked that's all.

From a high level, it looks like you are running a lineup on opening night of JB, OG, Mikal, Hart, and KAT. With a bench of Deuce, Precious, and a mix of veterans and rookies (Cameron Payne, Marcus Morris, Landry Shamet, Tyler Kolek, etc.).

Did we fill a need? Yes.

Did we lose talent? Yes.

Do I support the move? Yes.

Are we a title contender? Absolutely.

Did we get better? I think so.

In Leon We Trust, but right now, I am honestly sad. Thank you Julius, thank you Donte. Good luck in Minnesota, we'll catch you soon.
