The World Series kicks off tonight between the Phillies and the Astros, and the Astros come in as -165 favorites, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook. Many see this as a David vs Goliath matchup, and no one roots for Goliath....right?
Well, one person who will be rooting for Goliath is Astros' super fan, Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale. Mattress Mack placed a 10 million dollar bet on the Astros to win it all, which would result in an estimated record payout of $75 million if it hits.
Earlier this week, Wynn Sportsbook approached Mattress Mack and offered him a chance to hedge his massive bet. He turned down the offer and is riding with the Astros.
If the Astros end up winning the World Series, it would be the largest payout in sports betting history. The only obstacle in his way are the soaring Phillies and a guy named Bryce Harper (have you heard about him?). When asked about the Phillies, Mack said
"Phillies are on a huge roll, got a lot of great players. They hit a lot of home runs. We got a lot of great pitching. It should be a great series,"
Mattress Mack is riding off another major win this year when he won an estimated $15 million when Kansas won the NCAA men's basketball tournament in April. Besides that win, Mattress Mack was on a bit of a cold streak in 2021 as he bet the Astros again to win the World Series and Alabama to win the national championship.
You guys know my World Series Prediction already!
Stros in 5, Mack gets his 75 milly!
