Let's talk about some of America's favorite things: Beer and running. Now let's talk about them together.
On this week's episode of the podcast, I got to sit down with Chris Robertson. By day, Chris is the Director of Product Partnerships at Virgin Pulse, responsible for accelerating the build-out of Virgin Pulse's global partner ecosystem to represent the most innovative and successful companies in the health and wellbeing space. However, that's not all that Chris is known for - and here's where we get to the beer and running part.
Chris is also the world record holder in the Beer 2-Mile and the American Record holder in the Beer Mile. In this interview, we dive into all the ins and outs of beer miling and how the heck someone becomes world-class in such an event. Don't be surprised if you see this on the Olympic stage; Chris and I spent a good amount of time building our case.
A constant theme in this week's episode is Why can't we do both? Why can't we work a "Corporate America" 9-5 and chase hobbies like beer miling. Why can't we work for a health and wellness company, and compete in a race that requires the consumption of 4 beers (and a designated driver)? Chris personifies that balance and it was an absolute joy to chat with him.
While you're looking to chase your goals and your dreams, whether that be a PR in a 5K, completing a marathon, getting that promotion at work, or even something as simple as getting that second date - whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.
Something to think about as you enjoy the ice-cold one while reading this edition of Beyond the Pod.
