Last night it got ugly for the Clippers. Luka Doncic historically has OWNED the Clippers. Over the previous nine meetings he averaged 38.4 points a game and had double-digit assists in. Last night, he put up 44 points, including going 6-of-9 from 3, as the Mavericks blew out the Clippers 144-126 in a game that also counted toward the In-Season Tournament.
The Clippers are now 0-3 since getting James Harden and every loss has looked very very ugly.
Breakdown of the 0-3 start:
Knicks and Nets - offense was AWFUL
Mavericks - defense was AWFUL
It's hard to pinpoint exactly one exact thing that they stink at when in reality they are extremely weak on both sides of the ball.
Paul George has also resorted back to his Pandemic P self and has been ICE cold on offense.
Listen I understand it's early in the season, and the Clippers have a lot of work to do with lineups, but I just don't see how any of this works in the long run. Their best bet would be to get rid of Westbrick at the trade deadline and focus on the "Big 3" of Kawhi, Harden and Paul George. The four of them just doesn't work and Westbrick would be the easiest to dump especially because he is on a minimum. However, the West is so competitive that this slow start can really bite the Clippers in the ass come April and May.
The Clippers are now 3-5 on the season and their next games are against the shitty Grizzlies and the Denver Nuggets (another loss).
