Bruins - Islanders.
Celtics - Knicks.
Red Sox - Yankees.
Patriots - Giants.
No... Revolution - NYCFC.
I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest futbol fan on the planet, but I am a New Yorker. So when NYCFC was heading to New England for the Conference Semi Finals, I was pumped. A good ole New York vs. Boston rivalry, now on the soccer stage. I've followed City since their inception in 2015. I was fortunate enough to watch David Villa, Frank Lampard, and Andrea Pirlo early on in person. Six years later, and a much different team now heads to the Conference Finals for the first time in their history.
The Revolution, the 2021 Supporter Shield Champions, were the team to beat this season. It was a hard fought battle until the end. Tied at 1 in regulation. Taty Castellanos nailed one in at '109 and I thought it was over, but New England's Buchanan tied it back in the 118th.
After '120 on the clock, it all came down to the PK's. Sean Johnson kept his composure, and Callens scores on the fifth try to seal it. First time in team history, the Third Rail is heading to the Eastern Conference Finals. What. An. Upset. Just brilliant.
It all comes down to Sunday, where they'll take on the Union in Philadelphia to see who makes it to the cup. They'll be without Castellanos thanks to two yellow cards, but the magic is there. It's time to roll. COME ON NEW YORK!
