First game of the season for Providence City FC came down to the wire, but the Rogues came out on top.
In the Werner Fricker Quarterfinal Cup verse MIT FC, Providence shook off the rust and started out of the gate hot. Justin Freitas netted two goals, but MIT got back in the mix, tying the match. It was a chippy, aggressive, and trash talking game, that ultimately came down to penalty kicks.
The Rogues netted all five of their kicks and PCFC keeper, Chris Moura, managed to steal a save. Danny Monteiro scored the winner, ending the match 5-4.
The Rogues are only the next round against the Loco Gunners for the state semi. Saturday March 25th 11:30am at Campanella Field in
Providence, RI. COME ON YOU ROGUES!
