When House Enterprise teamed up with Providence City FC earlier this year, you could tell that the core group of guys were special. This team was sound when together. They could score from anywhere on the pitch. They communicated well with each other. They have been seasoned after years of playing together, and that statement couldn't be anymore true after the successful Sunday the Rogues just had.
After an eight goal performance in the Massachusetts Champions Cup semi-finals, Jason Rego got the band back together for the final match of the summer. Facing off against Boa Vista FC, the Rogues dropped a goal within the first ten minute to Vista's Thiago de Souza. However, from the 11th minute on, there was no stopping Providence's momentum, especially club veteran, Justin Freitas.
For those of you who don't know Freitas, he's a realtor by day, and a New England soccer big name by night. The former Vermont Catamount and New England Revolution Youth member, has been a staple for Providence from nearly the beginning. Frietas, who played overseas in Spain, for Colmenar Viejo, was the man of the match, and was the reason the Rogues were victorious.
He netted a PK in the 18th, hit the top cross bar for his second in the 25th, completed the hat trick in the 57th, and sealed the deal in the 81st with four goals on the day.
We'll provide some more inside exclusives on a new episode of "Come On You Rogues" , which will drop this week. But for now, we sit and celebrate your 2023 Massachusetts Cup Champions!
