Craft Beer Selections: The Summer Six-Pack for 2021 (Rhode Island Edition)

Part One of the Summer Six Pack series, today we're focusing on the Ocean State. Rhode Island is home to 31 breweries and beer taprooms and is widely overlooked which is a shame. If you've listened to the "Beers, Business, and Balls" podcast, we aim to try them all and showcase the special beers brewed in the state. For your reading, here is our choice for the Rhode Island summer selections. Cheers!

Chair 2

· Sons of Liberty (South Kingstown)

· Light Lager

· 4.3% ABV

· This clean and refreshing lager will definitely cool you down after some summer activities. Light in calories and in taste, you'll want to add this to your beach cooler. Plus, Chair 2 is named after the lifeguard chair on Narragansett Beach.

Del Shandy

· Narragansett (Pawtucket and Providence)

· Light Lager

· 4.7% ABV

· A Rhode Island classic! Who doesn't love a good ole Del's frozen lemonade on a hot day? Mix that into a shandy beer and you've got liquid gold. Brewed with Del's recipe and fresh lemons plus Gansett's perfected lager, this beer should be one of your go-to's that everyone will enjoy. It also comes in Mango, Passionfruit, and Watermelon.

Hawaiian Shirt

· Newport Craft Brewing and Distilling Co. (Newport)

· Sour Ale

· 4.3% ABV

· Now this is the real deal. A sour ale packed with sweetness. It is both tart and refreshing and filled with flavors of orange, guava, and passionfruit. This latest sour draws inspiration from Hawaii's classic POG juice. A go-to juicy beer.

Hazy Day

· Grey Sail Brewing Co. (Westerly)

· Belgian Wit

· 3.7% ABV

· Made for hot and hazy summer days, this beer has lemon and orange peels and cracked coriander, which gives it a refreshing taste with citrus notes. If you're heading to a party, winding down for the weekend, or day drinking outside, you can't go wrong with a Hazy Day.

Beached Sailor

· Long Live Beerworks (Providence)

· American Pale Lager

· 5% ABV

· An APL dry-hopped with Citra? Oh yes indeed. Long Live does it again, this time in a light lager. Brewed with American grain and German yeast, it features Ekuanot in the kettle for a slightly bitter taste.

Pinky Swear

· Revival Brewing Co. (Providence)

· Berliner Weisse

· 3.7% ABV

· Not too sour and not too sweet, the Pinky Swear is a perfect summer brew. Combined with kettle souring, raspberries, and blueberries, this refreshing tart drink will be a crowd-pleaser to all.

Honorable Mentions!

Because you can always bring more than 6!

· Strawberry Blonde Ale – Crooked Current | Pawtucket (Fruit Beer, 4.5% ABV)

· RI Silver Mandarina Bavaria - Buttonwood Brewery | Cranston (Farmhouse Ale Saison, 6%).

· I am a Raspberry Donut - Beer on Earth | Providence (Berliner Weisse, 4.4%)
