DMV Star of the Week - 4 TD's for Jayden Daniels

Every week, across several sports, players around the DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia) shine in individual performance. Every Monday, I’d like to take a minute to highlight some of those performances, including what I view as the best performance and name that athlete the “DMV Star of the Week.”

This week’s DMV Star’s of the Week is Washington Commanders Quarterback Jayden Daniels.

The Rookie QB had a phenomenal game on Sunday and ended Washington’s three game losing streak.

The Commanders jumped out to a 28-0 lead over Tennessee and eventually won 42-19 over the Titans on Sunday afternoon in Landover, MD.

In the win, Daniels was spectacular, throwing for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns with an interception, while rushing for another 34 yards and a score.

Most importantly, the performance got the Commanders back in the win column going into the bye week and just four games remaining on the schedule.

The DMV saw 10 teams in action this past week, including the Washington Commanders, Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, the Howard and Maryland football teams, as well as the Georgetown, George Washington, Maryland, Howard, and American basketball teams.

Here are some honorable mention performances for DMV Star of the Week:

  • Washington Commanders Running Back Brian Robinson Jr. had 16 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s 42-19 win over Tennessee.

  • Washington Commanders Wide Receiver Terry McLaurin had 8 catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Tennessee.

  • Wizards Guard Malcolm Brogdon had 29 points and 11 rebounds in 30 minutes in Saturday’s loss to Milwaukee.
