DMV Star of the Week - Jayden Epps

Every week, across several sports, players around the DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia) shine in individual performance. Every Monday, I’d like to take a minute to highlight some of those performances, including what I view as the best performance and name that athlete the “DMV Star of the Week.”

This week’s DMV Star of the Week is Georgetown Guard Jayden Epps.

In his first year as a Hoya, the sophomore transfer from Illinois has been the most prolific scorer on the team.

Epps currently averages nearly 19 points per game to go along with 4.5 APG and shoots 42% from the field.

Besides the first game of the season, he’s scored in double figures in every game of the year, including eclipsing 30 points on four occasions, the most recent being Friday night’s game on the road against Xavier.

In the disappointing 92-91 loss in which Georgetown led by as many as 14, Epps had 32 points on 9/19 shooting, including 3/5 from three and a perfect 11/11 at the free throw line. In addition, he had 11 assists, 2 rebounds, and a steal.

The Hoyas point guards has been tremendous for the team, and yet Georgetown is 1-6 in the Big East and has lost three straight.

Up next, the Hoyas host Butler on Tuesday before the much-anticipated road trip to Providence on Saturday to take on Head Coach Ed Cooley’s former team.

The DMV saw seven teams in action this past week, including the Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, and the Maryland, Georgetown, George Washington, Howard, and American basketball teams

Here are some honorable mention performances for DMV Star of the Week:

  • Washington Capitals’ Winger T.J. Oshie had a hat trick in Thursday’s 5-2 win over St. Louis, scoring 3 goals in the Caps’ victory
