DMV Star of the Week - Keibert Ruiz

Every week, across several sports, players around the DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia) shine in individual performance. Every Monday, I’d like to take a minute to highlight some of those performances, including what I view as the best performance and name that athlete the “DMV Star of the Week.”

This week’s DMV Star’s of the Week is Washington Nationals Catcher Keibert Ruiz.

The Nats went 2-3 this past week playing against some of the league’s best teams, winning a game against Baltimore and another against Philadelphia.

Ruiz recorded at least one hit in each game of the week, finishing 6-22 (.272 avg) with 3 runs scored, 4 RBI’s, and 3 home runs, including a 2 home run game against Philadelphia on Thursday.

Entering the week, Ruiz had hit just six home runs all season, and comes into Tuesday’s series against the Rockies riding his longest hit streak of the season.

The DMV saw four teams in action this past week, including the Washington Nationals, Washington Mystics, Washington Spirit in a Friendly Match, and the Washington Commanders in the preseason.
