DMV Star of the Week - Quinton Williams

Every week, across several sports, players around the DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia) shine in individual performance. Every Monday, I’d like to take a minute to highlight some of those performances, including what I view as the best performance and name that athlete the “DMV Star of the Week.”

This week’s DMV Star of the Week is Howard Football Quarterback Quinton Williams.

The 6-5 senior from Upper Marlboro, MD, has had a terrific season for the Bison, and put in his most clutch performance in Saturday’s 27-23 comeback victory over Norfolk State.

Williams went 14/24 for 240 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception through the air, while rushing for 42 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

After taking the lead on the game’s opening drive with a Williams rushing touchdown, Howard was held out of the endzone until early in the 4th quarter.

The Bison QB found Eden James for a 45 yard touchdown to tie the game at 20 with 9:13 to go, after Howard had trailed most of the game.

Then, after an NSU field goal, Williams led his team down the field again on a 10 play, 75-yard drive that ended with a 15 yard touchdown pass to Jarett Hunter to put Howard on top for the first time since the opening drive.

The Bison would hold on to win it 27-23 to start 1-0 in the MEAC for the season.

The DMV saw five teams in action this past week, including the Washington Commanders, Washington Capitals, Maryland and Howard football teams, and Washington Wizards in preseason

Here are some honorable mention performances for DMV Star of the Week:

  • Washington Commanders defensive end Chase Young had 2 sacks in Sunday’s 14-7 loss to the Giants

  • Washington Capitals Defenseman, John Carlson recorded 1 point in all three Caps games this past week, including 1 goal and 2 assists
