DMV Star of the Week - Tom Wilson

Every week, across several sports, players around the DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia) shine in individual performance. Every Monday, I’d like to take a minute to highlight some of those performances, including what I view as the best performance and name that athlete the “DMV Star of the Week.”

This week’s DMV Star of the Week is Washington Capitals Right Winger Tom Wilson.

The Capitals have been surging following a slow start to the season. Washington has won seven of its last ten games and a big reason why is the play of veteran right winger Tom Wilson.

Wilson is in his 11th season in the NHL and on Thursday he had perhaps his best ever game.

In the Caps’ 5-4 win on the road against the Anaheim Ducks, Wilson netted three goals to secure a hattrick.

Entering Thursday, he had scored just four goals all season.

Washington wraps up a five game west coast road trip on Monday against Arizona before returning home to take on Dallas and the New York Rangers this week.

The DMV saw eight teams in action this past week, including the Washington Commanders, Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, and the Maryland, Howard, Georgetown, George Washington, and American basketball teams

Here are some honorable mention performances for DMV Star of the Week:

  • Washington Capitals Right Winger Tom Wilson scored 3 goals in the Caps’ 5-4 win over Anaheim on Thursday

  • Wizards Forward Kyle Kuzma had a monster game in the win over Detroit on Monday, scoring 32 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing out 8 assists in the victory

  • Maryland’s JuJu Reese had 22 points and 12 rebounds in the Terps 103-76 win over Rider on Tuesday

  • Howard’s Seth Towns scored 24 points and hauled in 7 rebounds and 3 assists in the Bison’s OT loss to Cincinnati on Tuesday

  • American’s Matt Rogers had 24 points and 15 rebounds in AU’s disappointing 75-73 loss to Saint Francis on Saturday
