Every week, across several sports, players around the DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia) shine in individual performance. Every Monday, I’d like to take a minute to highlight some of those performances, including what I view as the best performance and name that athlete the “DMV Star of the Week.”
This week’s DMV Star of the Week is Washington Spirit Forward Trinity Rodman.
The 22-year old Rodman is in her fourth season with the Spirit and has her team off to a flying start, currently sitting third in the NWSL standings through ten games.
This past weekend, Rodman led the Spirit to a dominant win over Angel City FC, scoring two goals just 21 minutes apart to help her team to a 4-2 victory, with all six goals coming in the opening half of the match.
The two goals are Rodman’s second and third of the season as the Spirit currently are just behind Orlando and Kansas City in the standings.
Up next, Washington hosts Seattle, which currently sits second-bottom, on Friday night at Audi Field in D.C.
The DMV saw five teams in action this past week, including the Washington Nationals, D.C. United, Washington Spirit, Washington Mystics, and the D.C. Defenders
