They did it.
On Tuesday night, the Georgetown Hoyas won the first Big East game in nearly two years, snapping a 29-game losing streak dating back to March 2021.
“Finally, we got one,” Georgetown Head Coach Patrick Ewing said after the game.

It’s been a long-time coming for Georgetown. Now the question is, can they win again, and how many can they win?
On Sunday, the Hoyas face a good test. St. John’s has been perhaps the most inconsistent team in the conference.
This team beat UConn then was held to under 50 against Villanova and then lost to Creighton by 28.
Georgetown has a legitimate chance to make it two wins in a row. I like the Hoyas to be playing much more loose now that the epic losing streak is behind them.
Under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden, will the Hoyas get started on what could turn into a little bit of a run?
Head Coach: Mike Anderson (4th season, 63-49 record at St. John’s)
Record: 13-8 (3-7, T-8th in Big East)
Last Time Out: Lost @ Creighton 104-76 on 1/25

Player to Watch: Joel Soriano
St. John’s has lost seven of its last nine games. To be fair, the Red Storm have played what very well may be the toughest conference schedule of anyone in the Big East, with the wins coming against DePaul, Butler and @ UConn.
Mike Anderson may be the coach sitting on the hottest seat in the Big East, besides Patrick Ewing at Georgetown.
Anderson’s Red Storm is desperate for a win after getting throttled by 28 and surrendering over 100 points @ Creighton on Wednesday.
Ewing’s Hoyas could potentially win back-to-back Big East games for the first time since the conference tournament run in 2021.
It’ll take a lot for Georgetown to slow down Joel Soriano, who is averaging a double-double this season for St. John’s. 16.5 PPG and 12.1 RPG is unbelievable in the college game and it’ll likely be up to Georgetown’s best defender, Akok Akok, to contain him.
This’ll be a fun game to watch in tandem with the NFC Championship, which will start around the start of the second half of this game.
It’s a great day in sports. Get two TV’s.
