The MLB trade deadline is tomorrow and the New York Mets are pretty much going to sell sell sell. They already traded away their elite closer, David Robertson and one of the washed aces, Max Scherzer. We can expect them to get rid of some more players including Tommy Pham and Mark Canha.
Their other ace, Justin Verlander, is also very old, but I'm not ready to put him in the washed category just yet. Verlander in his last 7 starts has notched a 1.49 ERA and lowered his season ERA to 3.15.
The beginning of the Verlander era in Queens was a nightmare. However, Verlander in the last two months has settled in nicely and truly has looked like his former self.
According to Jon Heyman, many teams are showing interest in Verlander including the Astros and the Dodgers.
I don't know about other Mets fans but I've genuinely enjoyed watching Verlander over the last two months or so. He would be the ideal pitcher to anchor a young rotation the rest of this miserable year and next year.
Verlander seems to care about the team unlike Max did. Scherzer had one of the worst attitudes I've seen and he choked in literally every big game he pitched in.
We will have to see what the Mets have in store tomorrow, but i'm crossing my fingers that Verlander stays in Queens.
