A chippy one ended in a playoff-like atmosphere with not long to go before the race for the Cup begins.
It's been a minute since I've seen one this physical.
I've called 30 Bruins game this year - 3 in the preseason, and 27 regular season contests. There have certainly been some chippy ones throughout the year. November 10th against Calgary brought Nick Foligno's beatdown of Kevin Rooney. December 3rd, Foligno couldn't stay out of trouble again, taking on Andreas Englund of the Avalanche. AJ Greer was rocked by the Islanders' Matt Martin, but we like to forget about that one.
On Saturday, newly-acquired Garnet Hathaway was going at it with Pat Maroon before the puck even dropped. And nine seconds later, a full-blown fight broke out...Jakub Lauko and Ross Colton took some swings as well.
The game remained physical - minus a relative lack of action in the second period - but the playoff atmosphere was certainly there in the third period. Action packed, fast paced, total battle at TD Garden.
From my eyes, the Tampa Bay Lightning lineup carries just about everything you can ask for. Their recent success is to be commended because of some of the names on this list. Here's the lineup from Saturday, from Inside the Booth.
