March is here, and the two-time National Champion, Alex Karaban, has been off to a hot start for the UConn Huskies this month. In a 72-66 win over #20 Marquette, Karaban scored 21 points along with a clutch three to secure the victory for UConn.
Throughout Big East play, Karaban has struggled shooting, and it seemed the redshirt junior could not handle the pressure of being the captain. But, time and time again, March has been his time to shine, proving that he's a veteran leader and an experienced winner.
Head coach Dan Hurley encouraged Alex to shoot out of his slump, and with that mentality, he'd be right back to his peak form.
On Wednesday Karaban said:
"Personally, I was going through a lot that month where I wasn't shooting well...To have a moment like that was special and was really rewarding. Just proud of myself for that shot, but obviously the win I'm more happy about."

Karaban is now tied with Bob Staak for 31st in the Huskies All-Time scoring list. He will be honored before tip-off versus Seton Hall on Saturday's Senior Day, but the future is still uncertain as to whether or not Karaban will stay another year. To note, Hassan Diarra was honored at last season's Senior Day, but stayed one more year as a Graduate. Dan Hurley had high praises for Alex Karaban on Wednesday; "It's March, and Alex is starting to heat up." With 5 wins against Top 25 opponents this season, the Huskies are red hot.
Beware college basketball; one of the most decorated athletes in college basketball has found his rhythm just in time to lead the Huskies to a three-peat.
