Met Life: One Giant Mock Draft. A look at New York's potential big board plus simulated results

The future is now and It's time for Joe Schoen to shine! This is the first time in a while that the Giants aren't drafting in the early picks. You have to love that for multiple reasons. One, your team made the playoffs, and two, you let the board shake out to you, rather than having the stress of navigating the early rounds. After the homeruns that the Giants brass hit last season, I couldn't be more pumped for tonight, especially with their newly minted war room.

The Giants can only get better with this draft, because they arguably have already made vast improvements in the offseason. They locked in internal talent. Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard, Jihad Ward, Isiah Hodgins. They improved the offense by trading for Darren Waller, and signing Paris Campbell and Jameson Crowder. They bulked up the defense with Rakeem Nunez-Roches, A'Shawn Robinson, and Bobby Okereke. All in all, that's a major improvement. Their losses were minuscule. Nick Gates and Jordan Love were fan favorites, but they weren't gapping wholes.

First Round Big Board

To set the stage, I'd say the Giants three biggest needs are Wide Receiver (a true No. 1 deep threat), Interior Lineman (preferably center), and Cornerback. Some fans would be disappointed if a receiver is selected in the first, but I would be happy with any direction the team chooses, as long as it's addressing those three needs. This draft is deep at all three positions, so the opportunities are truly endless. Here is my big board of who I think could be available, come pick number 25.

WR

  • Quentin Johnson (TCU)

  • Jordan Addison (USC)

  • Zay Flowers (Boston College)

CB

  • Emmanuel Forbes (Miss St.)

  • Deonte Banks (Maryland)

  • Joey Porter Jr (Penn State)

IOL

  • C - John Michael Schmidt (Minnesota)

Other Positions

  • RB - Bijan Robinson (Texas)

  • DB - Brian Branch (Alabama)

  • EDGE - Myles Murphy (Clemson)

  • EDGE - BJ Ojulari (LSU)

  • DL - Brian Breese (Clemson)

My First Round Pick and Potential Trades?

If I had a gun to my head, my gut says Jordan Addison out of USC. Again, it all depends on how the draft falls. I don't think the Giants make any trades to go higher in the first round, but there are reports of the team being "active and aggressive", so they definitely could to get their guy. However, I have a strong inkling that they try to move up in the second and third rounds, to get some higher class guys to fill the wholes mentioned.

My Simulated Drafts (via PFF)

I've gone through multiple scenarios on the simulators, and here are some mocks that stood out to me the most. I didn't accept any trades, but I included a couple that peeked my interest.

On our House Mock Draft earlier this week, I dove into the possibilities of who the Giants can land, and below are some mocks that stook out to me the most.

My Favorite Draft

You land a marquee receiver, a top tier corner back and safety duo, a new center, a solid linebacker core, some guard depth, and a backup quarterback.
