Mets call up Mark Vientos in latest attempt to end slump

The Mets are finally calling up Mark Vientos.

The feeble Mets have had a disappointing and underwhelming start. They are 20-23 after another loss last night to the Rays. Pitching is bad and the offense is lackluster which has led to a disaster start for the Mets.

So, the Mets are calling up Vientos with hopes of offensive production. Vientos is slashing .333/.416/.688 with a 1.104 OPS. The 23-year-old also has 13 home runs in 38 games with Triple-A Syracuse this year. It’s not clear exactly what role the Mets look for Vientos to fill, but he will be expected to provide an offensive spark.

In his final game with Syracuse on Tuesday, Vientos had two hits, including a homer, and added two RBI.
