Wow! Passan bomb!
The Brewers traded former Cy-Young winning pitcher Corbin Burnes to the Orioles. In return, Milwaukee received prospect shortstop Joey Ortiz and pitcher D.L Hall. Ortiz was Baltimore's No. 6-ranked prospect and No. 63 in MLB. He was likely blocked at the MLB level by Gunnar Henderson and Jackson Holliday. Hall was the organization's No. 5-ranked prospect in 2022 before graduating out of the system.
Burnes started 32 games for the Brewers last season where he had a 3.39 ERA with 200 Ks and 193.2 innings pitched. Burnes won the Cy Young in 2021 where he had a 2.43 ERA and 232 Ks.
This is really solid deal for the Orioles and pretty much high way robbery. The Orioles get their ace and now they have a really solid rotation of Burnes, Bradish, Grayson, Rodriguez, and Means. They bolster their pitching depth, and strengthen their roster.
The move comes days after the Orioles were purchased for $1.7 billion by a group of private equity partners, including Baltimore businessman David Rubenstein.
