Friar fans lined up as early as 6:30 am, to pack the AMP for their former coach's return. With a few friendly hellos, the reception was mostly negative. Cooley greeted former neighbors and friends and was showered by chants, boos, and yells. The atmosphere was almost NBA-Finals-like, with white "Mindset" shirts placed on every chair. It was an unexpected back-and-forth game, but thanks to a game-high of 29 pts from Devin Carter, the Friars took care of business. Providence won their third straight to improve to 14-6 and 5-4 in league play.
