The Buffalo Sabres have agreed to a 7 year contract extension with top line center, Tage Thompson. The new deal begins in the 2023-24 season and is worth $50 million dollars for a $7.14 mil AAV.
Thompson exploded onto the scene in 2021-22 recording 38 goals and 30 assists for 68 points in 78 games.
Tage Thompson who is 6’7, 218 lb’s, is a sharpshooting center who took a huge step forward last season as an all around player using his size and speed to get the best of his opponents. With a new deal done, Thompson will look to continue his growth as a consistent top line presence for the Sabres.
This new deal is a sign that GM Kevyn Adams has huge expectations for Thompson after a breakout season with the Blue and Gold but consistency will be the biggest key for number 72. For now, the Sabres believe they have their line one center for years to come.
