Sunday Spreads Season 2, Volume 14: Last Week We Took Some L's, Time to Bounce Back

Image: New York Times

Last week had Tondo and I looking like a couple of Grade-A Mushes. That being said, the only thing we can do is hope this week's picks don't suck as hard. Hopefully Kanye and Drake's most recent concert have given Tondo and I the creative energy required to help you cash in this Sunday. Without further ado, here are our favorite picks for Week 14.

Basel's ATS 2021: 44-31-2 (2-5 Week 13)

Tondo's ATS 2021: 35-39 (2-4 Week 13)

Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers

Come on, Falcons. Give me something. I may have been asking for a lot when I picked them to cover a double digit spread over the Bucs, but against this Carolina offense, I'm way more hopeful. As bad as the Falcons are, at least they're consistent. Against a Carolina team that is without their best offensive player, as well as 2-4 ATS at home this year, I would be shocked if they can't take this one. This is a game I'd recommend avoiding, but we can't avoid any here on Sunday Spreads, so I'll go with Falcons +3.

Dallas Cowboys at Washington Football Team

Over the past few years, Washington has been one of those teams that can completely derail the NFC East favorite late in the season, so expect them to do exactly that against a pretty one-dimensional Cowboys offense. Despite some of the load being shifted to Tony Pollard, Dallas' offense still relies mainly on their running game, which Washington has been able to effectively stop this season. Look for the Cowboys to barely get the win today and for Washington +4 to hit.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans

The Jaguars are far and away the worst team in the league on both sides of the ball. As much as the Titans have struggled with their own injuries, they were able to put away Jacksonville with ease in their first meeting of the season, and should get by just fine today.

Titans -8.5

New York Giants at Los Angeles Chargers

As bad as the Giants QB situation has been, I think the possibility of going from Mike Glennon to Jake Fromm could actually be an upward turn. That being said, Fromm's start is still up in the air as of the writing of this post, so I'll have to go with the young QB who I know won't fail me against a team that can't get it together; Justin Herbert. Expect nothing from the Giants today and still find yourself disappointed.

Chargers -9.5

Sunday Night Football

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers

The last time these two teams met, Aaron Rodgers sent a pretty clear message as to how he felt about Chicago. Will the Packers continue their ownership until the 2022 season? Odds say yes, as Chicago is still reacclimating Justin Fields back into the offense, and with Aaron Jones and Davante Adams, Rodgers should have no problem moving the ball downfield and helping this one end with Packers -12.

Seattle Seahawks at Houston Texans

It's been a tumultuous season for the Seahawks, but after a lights out performance from Russell Wilson last week (30-37, 231 yards, 2 TD's), things seem to be on the up and up. The Texans are all in on Mills now, and you have to feel bad for Tyrod Taylor. Both teams stink against the spread. A little recency bias is making things difficult here, but the smart play is Seahawks -8.5.

New Orleans Saints at New York Jets

My trap game of the week. The Saints have dropped five straight, and are in full blown collapse mode. Four interceptions by Taysom Hill. Yikes. The Jets continue their struggles, but things are looking a little better for Zach Wilson, as he is starting to get into form. I still cannot responsibly bet the Jets at the moment. Saints open as favorites and I'll go with them. Saints -5.5.

Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns

A tricky tricky AFC North matchup. Are the Browns out of it? Can Lamar Jackson figure it out? The Ravens lost a tough one to the Steelers, while the Browns are back to their old selves. Baltimore is 9-1 ATS as underdogs, while Cleveland is 2-5 as home favorites ATS. For Josh Adams, Ravens +2.5.

Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs

Seeing the 10 point spread is quite daunting, but the last time these two met, Patrick Mahomes decided to throw five touchdowns. The KC defense flipped the switch, going from one of the worst to one of the stingiest in just a few weeks. The Chiefs are back, even with Jackson Mahomes back on the sidelines, I'll take KC -10.

Buffalo Bills at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs are 7-1 ATS at home in their last 8 games, this seems to be a lock for Brady. After a little slump, they have won three straight and are looking like the favorites in the NFC. On the other side, the Bills came into the season as an AFC favorite, but they have fallen back to reality in recent weeks. It's hard to pinpoint what the issue is. Is it Josh Allen? Is it the offense? Is it the defense? What gives for their struggles? They just saw the Patriots rush down their throats 40 times, they are about to get an absolute air raid from TB12 and company. The Bills are in trouble. Bucs -3

Detroit Lions at Denver Broncos

FINALLY. The Lions won a game. The country was rooting for this, I was rooting for this. On the flipside, the Broncos lost to the Chiefs as anticipated. The Broncos offense can tack up the yards, the question will be can the Lions defense stop the run game? I roll with Dan Campbell, I roll with the covering Lions. They are 5-1ATS in their last 6. They are 10 point underdogs. Easy. Money. Detroit +10.5

See you next week!
