Sunday Spreads Season 3, Volume 6: Skylar Thompson for the Win?

We've got a 7th-Round Draft Pick starting this Sunday, ladies and gentlemen! Can Skylar Thompson lead his Miami Dolphins to a bounce back win against the Vikings? Probably not, but it would be fun to see! Let's see what Basel and Tondo think, as well as what they think for every game today on Sunday Spreads.

Basel's ATS 2022: 17-17 (2-5 Week 5)

Tondo's ATS 2022: 15-14-5 (3-3-1 Week 5)

Basel's Week 6 Picks

1 PM Games

New York Jets at Green Bay Packers

After watching their win against Miami in person last week, I am so tempted to take the Jets against the Packers and continue a huge upward swing into a playoff team. While Green Bay does not have a 3rd-string QB to throw in like the Dolphins, we may actually see a healthy amount of Jordan Love this afternoon with Rodgers' sore thumb. Should the Jets capitalize defensively on his drives while Breece Hall continues to cook, the Jets may actually have a chance in this one.

Jets +6.5

San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are bad, but are the only remaining team that's 5-0 ATS. They've done a surprisingly good at keeping mediocre teams within their reach despite failing to beat them straight up. Against the 49ers, I am sad to say that this spread streak will end. Jimmy G has catapulted his Niners into the top spot in the West, and San Fran's run defense will make sure that any backup RB replacing the Cordarrelle Patterson will have no room to work today.

Niners -4.5

Cincinnati Bengals at New Orleans Saints

It won't be pretty, but Cincy is going to grab a much needed win here against a depleted New Orleans roster to help keep their playoff return hopes alive. Despite the close loss against Baltimore last week, Burrow and Mixon are clicking as a cohesive unit much better, and the Saints defensive backfield will not be up to the challenge today. Sorry, Alvin Kamara, but you are not the guy to singlehandedly lead your team to a win against the defending AFC Champs.

Bengals -2.5

New England Patriots at Cleveland Browns

WOOP WOOP! BAD BEAT ALERT! BAD BEAT ALERT! I have no idea how to make heads or tails on this, so I would avoid it altogether if you can. However, if you're a masochist, I'd ride with Cleveland. The Pats defense is their biggest asset, but I don't think Bailey Zappe has the experience yet to match anything the Browns can get past them.

Browns -2.5

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs

How is the potential game of the year not on Primetime? Seems like some network tv scheming if you ask me. While still a tough matchup, Buffalo has seen much bigger improvements on both sides of the ball, and should be able to withstand anything KC has to throw at them. Both offenses are rolling, and whichever QB comes out on top here will likely catapult themselves into the MVP conversation. It's going to be such a tossup, and will likely end with a field goal to win it. Looking at how these teams operate on both sides of the ball, give me Buffalo to be the ones to kick it.

Bills -2.5

Sunday Night Football

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles

Is it Cooper Rush time? I think it may be Cooper Rush time. After taking the Cowboys to 4 consecutive wins, he is on the top of my list for HIM-watch. The Eagles will be his biggest test yet, and I think he's got the chops for keeping it close against a potential NFC favorite. This is their second consecutive road game, and Philly is still cooking. Let Philly's offensive line keep the spread close one more time so I can HAMMER Cowboys +6.5

Tondo's Week 6 Picks

1 PM Games

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Pittsburgh Steelers

A tale of two different directions. The Bucs are aiming to get back on track for their lofty expectations, while the Steelers are tumbling towards a top five draft pick. The safe play is clearly TB, especially because Pittsburgh will be without Minkah Fitzpatrick and three of their top corners. This will be a feast for Brady. Bucs -10.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts

Speaking of different directions, these two AFC South teams are pretty much swapped their outcomes right now. The Colts have been a flat out bad team, while the Jags are surprising everyone. Don't expect an offensive masterclass during this game, especially with Matt Ryan. Also, the Colts pair of RB's in Taylor and Hines are out. I'll rip Jaguars +1.5

Baltimore Ravens at New York Giants

Why not us? If the G-Men can take care of Aaron Rodgers, then they can cover and win against the Ravens. It's the Wink reunion game, and the Giants defense is going to suppress Lamar Jackson. No need to overthink it, Giants +5.5

Miami Dolphins at Minnesota Vikings

I don't have much for this one. Skylar Thompson will try for the win in his first career start. And for that reason, I'll take Vikings -3.

4 PM Games

Carolina Panthers at Los Angeles Rams

The Super Bowl Champs have been struggling. Not as a bad as Carolina, who just lost Baker Mayfield to an ankle injury, and then fired HC Matt Rhule. Tough week. This is such a rat line. Like the obvious play is Rams spread, but can I trust Stafford? I do not trust any Panther QB, sorry XFL legend PJ Walker. I'll reluctantly take Rams -9.5

Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks

Even though I said I am picking from the heart this week, on this game I have to ride with the data. The Cardinals have been very good on the road the last 2 seasons, going 10-1 in the regular season. The Cardinals have covered the spread in both of their road wins this season. They were 8-1 ATS last season in the regular season on the road. Kyler Murray is > Geno Smith, it's a safe play. Cardinals -2.5
