Taking a look at UConn's best non-conference wins in historic streak

With an 84-64 win over New Hampshire, the UConn Huskies have won 24 straight non-conference games by double figures; an NCAA record. Here are some of their best wins during that streak.

5. LIU: December 10, 2022

UConn became the sixth team in NCAA history to go undefeated in non-conference play. The 114-61 win over Long Island University was the most points scored by UConn, without OT, since 2005. Jordan Hawkins had 22 points for the Huskies. This was also a breakout game for Donovan Clingan who went 10-10 from the field and had 21 points along with 11 rebounds.

4. Alabama: November 25, 2022

This win was very impressive for UConn. They beat #18 Alabama 82-67 in the Phil Knight Invitational. This was a true test to how the 22-23 season was going to turn out for UConn. Adama Sango had 25 points for the Huskies. The bench played in tune totaling twenty points led by Joey Calcaterra's 10.

3. Texas: November 20, 2023

With an 81-71 victory over #15 Texas, this was one of the closest matchups in UConn's streak. Alex Karaban led the team with 20 points and had critical buckets down the stretch. The bench outscored Texas 23-14 and was led primarily from Samson Johnson who had a career high, 15 points.

2. San Diego State: April 3, 2023

Of course, I have to add the National Championship game on this list. With this 76-59 win, UConn won their fifth National Championship in program history; solidifying them as a Blue Blood in College Basketball. UConn won all six of their Tournament games by an average of 20. Adam Sanogo, the Tournament MOP, had 17 pts and 10 rebounds. Tristen Newton also had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

1. Gonzaga: March 25, 2023

In my opinion, this is the best game in UConn's historic streak. After beating Gonzaga in the Elite Eight, this was when UConn fans and the world realized they are winning it all. The Huskies blew out the Bulldogs 82-54. Jordan Hawkins led the team with 20 points making 6 threes. UConn held Drew Timme to 12 points and 10 rebounds.

With a loss to Kansas on Friday night, that streak has now come to an end. An impressive feat started by last season's historic team. Tristen Newton added:

"We started the streak with them and just to be able to beat the record and have them be a part of history with this team, it means a lot. Without them, this wouldn’t be possible. I’m glad we could do something for them this year.”

These past few years have been historical UConn teams that have been only building upon the foundation of the 2022-2023 team. Non-conference games are only going to get tougher especially with teams looking to do home and home matchups the next few seasons. A new streak starts on Tuesday versus North Carolina.
