The AMP, the home of the Providence Friars, and the place where ranked teams go to die.

Over the past three seasons, Providence has shown the College Basketball world that you don't want to face them in front of a home crowd. In that time span, the Friars are a whopping 40-3, which is the most by any team. They've also knocked off six ranked opponents at home in the past three seasons. Long story short, they are the pure definition of "home court advantage".

Whether you are now "AMP'd up", or are still old and call it the Dunk (or dare I say the Civic Center), you can't deny the electricity that is in the building. From liquored-up college fans to passionate adults, playing in Providence is no easy feat, and last night was the perfect example.

Enter the 6th-ranked Marquette Golden Eagles. One of the top teams in the country, led by Shaka Smart and Tyler Kolek (Rhode Island Native), and a team that is destined to reclaim their Big East title, and poised to make a deep run in March. They were 4.5-point favorites, and they wound up losing by 15.

The Golden Eagles shot 32.1% from the floor and 20% from three. That's very unlike them because as a team, they entered the contest shooting 48.9% for the season. They were outmuscled, outplayed, and overall looked lost. On one hand, you have to give credit to Kim English and the talent on the Providence roster. On the other hand though, the crowd and environment definitely played a part in making this game a blowout.
