Three time Pro Bowl punter Brett Kern has been released by the Tennessee Titans. Kern, 36, was recently beat out by rookie punter Ryan Stonehouse.
Days earlier, fallout from the Matt Araiza scandal rocked the Buffalo Bills’ world with the Bills deciding to cut Araiza due to rape allegations from his days at San Diego State. Kern, being a Grand Island, NY native, and his parents being huge Bills fans would make the two a perfect match.
According to Kern’s father, Cal, when appearing on WLVL’s morning show, Kern will not be coming home and punting for the Bills. Cal says the Titans are encouraging Kern to stay ready in case the rookie punter, Stonehouse, can’t hack it. Cal added that Brett enjoys the family life he has built in Tennessee.
The Buffalo Bills hosted ex Broncos punter, Sam Martin, for a visit early Wednesday morning. Last year, Martin ranked third in the league in net punting average at 42.8 yards per punt.
