The Bronx Tales: A new era of Yankee Shortstops is amongst up. Oswald Peraza is getting the call!

Last night, wasn't a fun one. The Yankees are not a West Coast team, and it showed yet again. Despite a 7-inning outing by Gerrit Cole, it was blemished by an IKF error that parlayed into a Ohtani 3-run homer.

The frustration is warranted. Cole has been pretty solid his last 5 starts. A 2.16 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 33.1 IP (8 ER) ,34 K’s , 4 Quality Starts , yet the team is 1-4 in those games. The Yankees went from World Series favorites, to potential Wild Card in the matter of weeks. With the calendar flipping to September, this next month is what will make or break this team.

The new month also brings roster expansions, and folks... The future is now.

Peraza joins the party, and hopefully he gets the opportunity to help this team.

He was kept from any trades, even for the likes of Juan Soto and Luis Castillo. He and Volpe were touted the next big thing, that's why the Yanks opted for a stop-gap. But no more. WELCOME TO THE SHOW!

IKF isn't good. Donaldson and Torres are not helping the team. Marwin Gonzales hasn't recorded a hit since July 6th. They have seen success from Oswaldo Cabrera, it's now for the next rookie to make a splash.

He has stellar defense that the Yanks have loved for years, and his bat has been quite pleasant this season in AAA. In 99 games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, Peraza has slashed .259/.329/.448 with 57 runs scored, 16 doubles, 19 homers and 50 RBIs, all while stealing 33 bases in 38 attempts. He has walked 34 times against 100 strikeouts.

It comes at a much needed time. One, because of the skid that the Yankees are going through post All-Star break. Secondly, is the fact that we've come to the realization very early on the IKF is not the answer. Isiah Kiner-Falefa, fresh off a costly error in Wednesday’s loss to the Angels in Anaheim, was getting praise by Boone, even though fans all disagree.

Peraza is already on the 40-man roster, the Yankees don’t have to make another move. He's eligible for the playoffs too, which is great if he pans out. He hit his 19th home run of the season, and then hugged his teammates goodbye as he was pulled from the game. That's where the speculation turned into realty, where Twitter erupted on the news.

THIS IS THE SPARK WE NEEDED, LET'S GO!
