Another series... lost. The team of the first half is in the rear view mirror. When this team loses, it looks like they never could win. Yet when they secure the victory, they look like the World Series Champs.
It's starting to show too. Vibes are all over the place. Boone is feeling the heat, and is broadcasting it to the public
The issue at the table is the offense. From first to worst in the matter of weeks. Yes, the starters have digressed and the bullpen identify is wishy-washy, the balls are not being batted into play, and runs are not being scored. I talked about it on our wOBA WonderBoys podcast. The silver bullet of the Yankees woes right now is the lack of offense.
I'm done writing about the negatives at this point. One game at a time, and luckily the last one was a win. Yet, if it wasn't for Andrew Benintendi knocking in his first Yankees home run, the team would've been swept.
To keep the positivity up even with all the troubles, it's nice to see a little spark and sense of newness with Oswaldo Cabrera. He has shined defensively all across the field since joining the team.
So now, what's next? When the going gets tough, let's throw a Subway Series to kick off the week. The Yankees will face the Mets and take on the battle of New York by the horns. They are set to face the gauntlet of Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom. Yikes. If the team wants to make a statement, then tonight and tomorrow are your opportunities. Buckle up.
