Despite a slow week for Metro Hoops due to the holiday, our analysts at House Enterprise were busy evaluating our 8 New York teams. Here's this week's updated Metro Rankings, along with some updates on how the top teams are faring so far.
The Metro Poll, Week 6:
Poll Reaction
It was bound to happen one of these days. Iona has finally usurped the Johnnies, edging them out by a point in this week's ranking. St. John's did pull off a nice win against Georgetown in their last game, but they're still fighting an uphill battle in the Big East. Both of our top teams have had to cancel games recently due to positive Covid tests or potential Covid contact within each program, with Iona putting team activities on pause for two weeks due to a positive test. St. John's cancelled their Saturday game, and it's unclear whether or not they'll need to put the program on pause. Elsewhere in the rankings, everything remains relatively unchanged as the NEC went all week without a game. Fordham finally opened their season in A-10 play, but they've got more than enough problems in their play to figure out before they can make any headway in these rankings.
Hofstra Holds Strong in the Top Four
The Colonial Athletic Association favorites, the Hofstra Pride are off to a strong start in conference play as they take both games of their back to back against William and Mary. The duo of Isaac Kante and Jalen Ray were the stars of the Pride's first two conference games, with Kante currently on a four-game double-double streak. Along with Iona, and potentially LIU, the Pride are favorites to represent the Metro Poll teams in this year's March Madness.
