The New York Football Giants are getting some backlash for their new commemorative jersey, which is a nod to uniforms in the past, and in celebration of the franchise's 100th season.
I loved the announcements thus far for their centennial season, and when you look at jerseys in the past, this reveal makes total sense. However, social media had a different opinion, dawning the franchise as "unserious" and calling these jerseys "trash".
Do I think they are perfect? No.
Do they deserve the hate? Hell no.
Do they resemble the Montreal Canadiens? I can see it.
Do I love the historical tiebacks? Absolutely.
Am I glad the Giants are doing this? You betchya.
Throwbacks and alternatives are super cool, and I don't think the four major sports programs do them enough. We need these organizations to take a page out of minor league baseball books or spend some time studying kits in soccer. Heck, even find some graphic designers online, because they are making some incredible creators that aren't getting their flowers.
