USC Week 0 recap: The defense still sucks

Woof.

USC got the week 0 win (they didn't cover though), but their performance wasn't anything show stopping. Let's get into some grades:

Offense: B+

Caleb Williams looked fantastic and only played 3 quarters. He was doing super hero things which included an insane 70 yard touchdown on a broken play where the snap was fumbled.

The biggest story on offense was Zachariah Branch who scored two touchdowns last night, one on the kickoff return for 98 yards and a receiving touchdown. By the end of the game, he had stolen the spotlight from Caleb Williams. With his 232 all-purpose yards, Branch also helped overshadow lingering concerns about USC's physicality along the line of scrimmage.

Defense: D+

How does Alex Grinch still have a job? The USC defense is still pitiful, pathetic and gutless. They just aren't good enough to compete with the best in CFB. Who the fuck gives up a 3rd and 22 to SJSU? In my opinion, heads should be pretty low on that defense with their lackluster performance yesterday. If they continue to play like this, it will be the exact same to last year where they will lose to Utah in the Pac-12 championship. They cannot tackle or stop the run, and it really makes me wonder what the fuck did they do all summer?
