Player to Watch: Jayden Daniels
The Washington Commanders have won three straight games entering Sunday’s pivotal matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Washington is 7-2 and sits atop the NFC East, with all of its games against Philadelphia and Dallas still to come.
However, of those seven wins, only one (Arizona) was against a team that is currently above .500.
Entering Week 10, the Commanders are 1-2 against teams with a winning record and 6-0 against teams at or below .500. For rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, it’s been a tremendous first season in the league thus far. However, the schedule is about to get much tougher, starting on Sunday against Mike Tomlin’s Pittsburgh Steelers.
After Sunday, Washington travels to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles on Thursday Night Football before returning home to host Dallas.
If the Commanders can pull off wins in two of its next three games, they’ll be at 9-3 with five games to go and firmly in the drivers seat to win the division.
For a team that was pegged by basically all NFL pundits to finish at the bottom of the NFC East, it’s been a miraculous season for first-year Head Coach Dan Quinn and his Commanders.
Now, they just need to beat a team with real pedigree, something they’ve really yet to do in 2024.
The opportunity awaits on Sunday at home against the Steelers.
Head Coach: Mike Tomlin (18th season, 179-102-2 record in Pittsburgh)
Record: 6-2 (0-0, 1st in NFC North)
Last Time Out: Won vs. New York Giants 26-18 on 10/28/24

Player to Watch: Russell Wilson
In Mike Tomlin’s first 17 seasons with the Steelers, his team has never posted a record below .500.
Now, in year 18, he’s got his squad off to a 6-2 start while the quarterback situation has been one of the most talked about storylines in the league.
For the first six weeks, former Bears quarterback Justin Fields was the starting QB. In those six games, Pittsburgh went 4-2, but often struggled on offense.
In Week 7, on Sunday Night Football, former Seattle Seahawk and Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson took over as the starting quarterback.
The Steelers won the game 37-15 over the Jets and took out the Giants two weeks ago 26-18 before entering the bye at 6-2 overall and sitting atop the AFC North.
In his two starts, Wilson has completed 63% of his passes for 542 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. At times, he’s looked lackluster, but as long as the Steelers are winning and taking care of the football, expect the veteran QB to stay in the starting spot.
On Sunday, it’s vital for the Steelers to get the run game going to support Wilson. On defense, it’ll be a challenge for the vaunted Pittsburgh D to slow down the dynamic Jayden Daniels.
