Your NHL on ESPN doubleheader betting guide for October 25th

To my very loyal four readers a week (you know who you are) I apologize for the absence last Tuesday/Wednesday night. It is with great honor and privilege that I bring you this extremely last minute betting guide for our two matchups being featured on ESPN tonight, October 25th, 2022.

Game 1: Colorado Avalanche @ New York Rangers

Of course, as it is in any sport, you get extremely nervous when the defending champs come into your favorite team's building for a nationally televised game. Those are the roller coaster emotions I'm feeling on this very day. While I'm excited to see the reigning Stanley Cup Champions take on a serious Eastern Conference contender in the New York Rangers, the Blueshirts haven't exactly played well over their last two games. If they can pry a victory away from the hands of the Colorado Avalanche tonight, it'll be a huge confidence boost for a group that's looked flat thus far, but obviously it won't be easy.

Tonight also marks Alexandar Georgiev's return to Madison Square Garden. After playing as a backup to both Henrik Lundqvist and then Igor Shesterkin for the better part of four seasons, Georgiev was traded away to the Colorado Avalanche over the offseason where he's acted as their starting goaltender.

I'll take:

  • O 6.5

  • Nathan MacKinnon anytime goal scorer

Game 2: Vegas Golden Knights @ San Jose Sharks

The Vegas Golden Knights have been the hottest team in hockey so far in the 2022-23 season along with the Boston Bruins over in the Eastern Conference, both teams standing at 10 points a piece. Vegas' success early on in the year is no surprise, as I've stated many times in the past, the Golden Knights have the NHL equivalent of a superteam.

The San Jose Sharks, on the other hand, have been the same old Sharks that we've grown accustomed to over the last few years. What a fall from grace this franchise has experienced since their 2016 Stanley Cup run. Tomas Hertl only has 3 points in 8 games played, and San Jose desperately needs him to get back into form.

We also have a chance to see a record get broken tonight, as Phil Kessel eyes his 990th consecutive NHL game. Kessel tied Keith Yandle's iron man streak last night in game No. 989. Barring any unforeseen events before puck drop tonight, we'll be crowning a new NHL iron man.

I'm not expecting any upsets out of this one.

I'll take:

  • VGK -1.5

  • Erik Karlsson O .5 points
